Erik Wørts (1916-1997): A cabinetmaker’s son. Apart from a few interruptions, from 1937 Erik Wørts only designed furniture for his father, the cabinetmaker Henrik Wørts, and made a significant contribution.Erik Wørts won numerous prizes at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild’s architectural competitions, his last being first prize at the 40th anniversary exhibition of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild in 1966 under the theme ‘Furniture for People’. Throughout the 1960s, he designed for the FDB drawing office, followed by a long period designing furniture for IKEA.
